About Vera Documents
These terms cover the client-facing Vera Documents service operated by Scaleframe, Inc. (“Vera,” “we,” or “us”): receiving secure document links, reviewing and completing forms, signing agreements, and receiving related transactional notifications.
Vera Documents facilitates e-signatures and form filling between law firms and potential clients, making the process more secure and convenient for both parties. It operates as an independent third party between the firm and their potential client with the consent of both parties.
The firm chooses to use Vera Documents for a document request. You choose whether to complete or sign the document. These terms describe the platform service; they do not replace an agreement with the firm or the firm’s professional obligations. Simply visiting this page does not consent to texts, sign a document, or accept representation.
The firm’s role and your choices
The requesting firm is responsible for the content of its documents, its legal advice, its decisions about representation, and any fees or other obligations in its agreement with you. Vera provides technology and does not act as your attorney or provide legal advice.
A document request, completed form, or electronic signature does not by itself establish an attorney-client relationship. That depends on the applicable agreement, the firm’s acceptance, and applicable law. Ask the firm directly if you are unsure.
You may decline a document, ask the firm questions, or ask for another way to receive or complete it. Do not sign a document you do not understand. The service is not an emergency channel and should not be relied on to meet a legal deadline without confirmation from the firm.
Electronic documents and signatures
Review the document and any electronic-record or signature disclosures presented in the signing flow. A signature is collected only through the applicable signing action; viewing this page or opening a link is not a signature.
Use accurate information and sign only for yourself or someone you are authorized to represent. Electronic signatures can have legal consequences. The document, applicable law, and required parties’ actions determine its effect.
You need a compatible browser, internet access, and the ability to view the relevant documents. Save or download a copy where that option is provided, or request a copy from the firm. Contact the firm about paper alternatives, withdrawing electronic-delivery consent, or correcting a completed document. Withdrawal does not undo a signature or transaction already completed.
Transactional text messages
Before receiving Vera Documents texts, you must explicitly consent to texts for the specific document request. The receiving number must be yours or one you are authorized to use. Merely giving a firm your phone number or using this website is not consent to receive texts from Vera Documents.
Texts are purely transactional. They provide secure e-signature or form links requested by the firm identified in the message. There is no marketing or promotional messaging. Vera controls the SMS templates: firms cannot send arbitrary texts, edit the templates, or conduct conversations through the shared number. A firm may choose the contents of its document; it cannot edit Vera’s text-message template.
Document links are hosted on Vera infrastructure at vera.legal. Message frequency varies with the document links you request. Message and data rates may apply. Consent to texts is not a condition of purchasing services. Ask the firm for another delivery method if you do not want texts.
Reply STOP to stop Vera Documents texts from this number across all participating firms. You may receive one confirmation of your opt-out. Reply START to remove that opt-out; a new document request still requires permission. Reply HELP for help, or contact 518-406-8869 or hello@vera.legal.
The shared texting number is for automated document notifications and service keywords. Contact your firm directly for questions, legal advice, or conversations. Opting out of texts does not cancel an agreement or delete records. Delivery may be delayed or fail because of carrier, network, or device conditions. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Using the service responsibly
Keep document links private. Do not impersonate another person, access another person’s request without authorization, submit malicious files, interfere with the service, or use it unlawfully. Tell the requesting firm and Vera if you receive a document intended for someone else.
You retain your rights in information and documents you provide. You authorize Vera to process, store, display, transmit, and reproduce that material as needed to carry out your request, provide records to the intended participants, operate and secure the service, and meet applicable legal obligations. This permission does not transfer ownership or grant marketing rights.
We may limit or suspend access where reasonably necessary to address misuse, security concerns, legal requirements, or a withdrawn or expired document request. Contact the firm if a link expires or becomes unavailable.
Privacy and service availability
Our Client privacy policy explains how we handle recipient information, including sensitive document contents, signing evidence, and text-message consent. The requesting firm has its own privacy and professional obligations.
We aim to provide a reliable service, but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access or that every document is suitable for electronic signature. We do not guarantee a legal outcome or the firm’s acceptance of a matter. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or responsibilities that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Questions and changes
For platform support, contact Scaleframe, Inc. at hello@vera.legal, 518-406-8869, or 440 North Barranca Avenue, #1304, Covina, CA 91723, United States. Contact the firm for the substance of a document, its fees, representation, or legal advice.
We may update these terms as the service or applicable requirements change. We will update the date and provide additional notice or seek agreement when required. An update to this page does not rewrite a document you already signed or create new SMS consent.
